Our 78-year-old client faced a distressing situation when a TV antenna repairman took advantage of her. Without offering a diagnosis, scope of work, or quote, he replaced her antenna and booster, leaving her with a staggering invoice of $1600 – standing over her until she paid. Investigations revealed that the parts were worth no more than $400, and the repairman had spent less than an hour at her home. This unjust experience left her shaken and doubting her ability to live independently.
We stepped in, empowering her with knowledge about her rights and protection under Australian Consumer Law. We assisted her in drafting a QCAT Consumer Application and navigating the complexities of the repair business she had dealt with. Armed with this guidance, she was able to attend and represent herself at a QCAT mediation, level the playing field, and work with a skilled mediator to reach a fair resolution, restoring her confidence and sense of justice.

Acting on police advice, a new client – a domestic violence victim – escaped her home and sought assistance at our clinic the next day. In distress and struggling to navigate the situation, our team promptly provided legal guidance, assisting her in applying for a protection order and address her immediate housing needs. Working in tandem with the University of the Sunshine Coast social work team, we facilitated her access to safe and secure housing with connections to crisis accommodation, as well as financial support. Despite her partner making false accusations, we helped her obtain a protection order – the first step on her path to freedom.
Our corporate partners are vital to our work. Please call (07) 5376 7800 or message us to explore potential partnerships.
